Forest & Beach is a limited company and a social enterprise*.
We offer curriculum-linked outdoor learning and environmental
education to children and schools across the UK, and we have
a clear environmental and social mission. Based on an organic
farm set a mile from the beach at Beesands, we offer a range
of educational activities ranging from Forest School, Beach
School, River Study Days, Farm visits, agricultural education
and bespoke educational packages. Please see our page on 'What
we do' for further information about our work.
View testimonies from teachers, children
In today's society, where technology takes centre-stage, children
and adults are increasingly losing touch with nature and becoming
unsure of how to interact with it. Forest & Beach aims to
reconnect people with nature in a way that's creative, engaging
and fun. Through the exploration of our fabulous natural environment,
we offer practical, hands-on experience to inspire others to
achieve and learn.
Who we are
As primary school teachers for the last 18 years, we are passionate
about learning, and in particular we are passionate about learning
outdoors. We are fortunate to live and work in a fantastic area
of the UK which we would like to share with children and adults
Pete Moore, BA (Hons), PGCE, and Andrea Moore, Bed (Hons)
Both Pete and Andrea are qualified primary teachers and Forest
School leaders. They are ex-pupils of Kingsbridge School and
have strong connections in the South Hams with Andrea's parents
still farming locally and both having taught and continuing
to teach locally. They have 2 children, Milly and Sam who attend
school locally and are roped in to helping out at the Centre
on a regular basis!
Both Pete and Andrea have taught in Bristol and Singapore and
have gained a wide experience in the profession including teaching
children with Special Needs.
*Forest & Beach is run as a "social enterprise".
This means that once payments, including wages, have been made
then profits are put back into the business - to further our
remit of connecting children and adults with nature. We are
a business and not a charity, but we have a clear environmental
and social mission.
